Artist Statement

I began my artistic career with illustration and graphic design. As I ventured into new mediums, I developed my signature style of acrylic paintings that evoke a sense of movement through shapes, depth, and light. This technique evolved into creating highly stylized, sculptural wood pieces.

I consider myself a narrative artist, as storytelling has become an important element in my work. I believe that art should live in its environment; good use of materials and research are key aspects in the development of new projects.

Nature, history, movement, and materials inspire my artwork.
I have received recognition for my artwork through fellowships, grants, awards,
and commissions. I’ve worked in the public and private art sectors.

Through experimentation and numerous collaborations, I’ve expanded my art practice to encompass a wide range of mediums, including installations and display projects, collage, clay, glass, sculpture, assemblage, embroidery, and video animation projects.
My process involves an engaged and intrigued response to the subject or the creation of it, which can be very fast or really slow.

Experimenting with new art-making processes keeps me engaged, open-minded, and eager to explore new creative directions and opportunities.
